Welcome to rolling hills of forests and agricultural land between the Bay of Fundy and the Northumberland Strait—dotted with towns and villages throughout. With natural wonder, countless friendly communities, energetic festivals, and a rich history, this zone is perfect for anyone looking for a lifestyle anchored in a down-to-earth honesty, friendly neighbours, and outdoors-inspired adventure.

The Town of Truro is this region’s largest urban community, and it offers a wonderful lifestyle of main street energy complemented with outdoor activity. Downtown Truro shops, restaurants, and cafes are all just a short trip from Victoria Park’s beautiful nature hikes.

The northern shore of the province is home to an abundance of other charming communities—and more warm-water ocean beaches than anywhere else in Atlantic Canada. The area’s towns are each wonderful slices of Nova Scotia culture—from Pictou’s proud Scottish heritage and lobster festival, to Tatamagouche’s artisans and cultural scene, to New Glasgow’s music festival and charming downtown.

Outdoor adventure is a way of life in this region, with a dynamic landscape that rewards everyone who’s up for a hike, kayak, or simple waterfront stroll. This zone is also where you’ll find Ski Wentworth, the Maritime’s largest ski area.

This area of the province is home to three regional hospitals, located in Amherst, Truro, and New Glasgow, two community health centres, and four community hospitals with Collaborative Emergency Centres. Both Truro and Amherst hospitals were built to be models of efficiency, featuring lots of light, outdoor living space, and modern workspaces.
